Tucked into a modestly sized suburban lot within casual walking distance to the bustling shops of Bethesda, is this unassuming, metropolitan-inspired and traditionally-styled five bedroom stucco home. As a practical response to the need for garage parking accessible to the front yard, as well as the desire for privacy, GTM created an L-shaped front court solution for the floor plan. The remainder of the house can best be described as “fun.” The owner’s desire to craft a private, resort-like environment inspired this playful yet sophisticated design result.
When entering the house, a strikingly-rich color palette migrates from room to room and concludes with a sunlit view to the private, rear yard outdoor living area. The open-plan Family Room and Kitchen area continues through a walk-out screened porch extending into the rear yard, which leads to an outdoor punctuation to this home experience. An austerely-styled modern cabana is the centerpiece to a playground of rear yard features, including an adjacent swimming pool with swim-up bar seating, outdoor Kitchen and luxurious sauna.
