Washington, DC
Renovations of amenity spaces at 1211 Connecticut Ave included extensive lobby improvements, a new Conference Center and Fitness Center, upgraded in a modern and sophisticated style. The reception and security desk in the Lobby were shifted closer to the building’s main entry doors, allowing room for an elegant lounge area to fully define the space and provide more seating. A dated art installation at the elevator bank was replaced with a cluster of pendant lights, which adds interest as well as better lighting for the space.
For the shared Conference space on the 2nd floor, the concept was designed using a Razortooth Design panel to provide some privacy while allowing adequate openings on either side for egress. A pre-function area that doubles as a tenant lounge was created, as well as a private restroom for these areas.
The Fitness Center’s boutique hotel feel, utilized upgraded finishes throughout, including wood-look ceiling details for warmth, and color-changing LED lights in the Yoga studio for a unique feature. An impressive “wow-factor” was provided with a custom light-box installation, compensating for the lack of natural light in the space by creating the illusion of a large window. For this unique element, a picturesque view of the bike path along the Potomac was selected to highlight this popular attraction of Washington DC.
