Washington, DC
The Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, a Frederick landmark since 1947, is celebrated for its Art Deco-inspired industrial design. After years of vacancy, GTM|Architects repurposed the building, preserving its iconic facade and transforming it into modern office space with a ground-floor restaurant. Behind it, a new 4-story apartment building complements the historic plant, drawing inspiration from its industrial character and Art Deco detailing. Loft-style windows, articulated bays, balconies, and entry features echo the scale and rhythm of the original structure, creating a seamless connection between past and present.
Our interior design brings this history into every space, blending elegance with industrial character. Inside, loft-inspired finishes, exposed materials, and subtle nods to the Coca-Cola heritage, including curated memorabilia, create a cohesive story throughout the building. Public spaces, lounges, and amenity areas like the fitness center, club lounge, resort-style pool, and outdoor gathering spots reflect this thoughtful industrial aesthetic while providing comfort, functionality, and modern living experiences.
The interiors honor the legacy of the Coca-Cola Plant while delivering stylish, livable spaces that make residents feel connected to the past and engaged in the present. The result is a building where history and contemporary design meet.
GTM provided both architectural and interior design services - explore the architectural design.
