Bold and Colorful Design to Emphasize a Playful Brand

Captain Cookie + The Milkman engaged GTM | Architects to design their Arlington, VA and Eastern Market, DC locations, aiming to strengthen their brand identity while bringing elements from their food trucks, online presence, and past storefronts into the space. Despite the small size of these retail spaces, GTM worked creatively with the existing conditions to make the cookie and ice cream shop both functional and inviting to draw people in.

These designs include a commercial kitchen, a POS and retail area, a back-of-house space, and a tasting zone. GTM focused on maximizing the brand’s visibility from the outside. The shop’s signature superhero illustrations take center stage, with bold primary colors and strong lines defining the interior. Clean white tile walls are accented with stripes of red, blue, and yellow, which extend across the walls and ceiling in paint. We complemented the vibrant design while preserving some of the original flooring. The result is a dynamic, playful space that showcases the client’s bold and fun brand while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for customers.
