Garrett Park, MD
Located in the Garrett Park Historic District, this two-story traditional farmhouse style home has a modern twist. The simple exterior building forms, wrapped in traditional lap siding, enclose a contemporary open-concept floor plan with straight-forward, clean-lined interior design. Through the deliberate use of minimalist detailing, coupled with an abundance of natural light, warm wood and natural stone accents, this house overcomes the challenges of a small “infill lot” footprint to present an open spacious modern feel. A centerpiece to the home is the custom fabricated steel stair. With raw steel stringers supporting dark walnut timber stair treads against a backdrop of sun-washed white shiplap walls, this utilitarian artwork functions to connect all three levels of the home in modern farmhouse fashion. Additional specialty features, such as remotely operated privacy shades hidden, motorized retractable porch screens, and pocketing sliding patio doors that retract into the rear walls provide customizable functionality to maximize the homeowners use and enjoyment of the space.
