A new pool house was set among existing outdoor spaces spanning across 1.9 acres. A hurdle for planning and design of the new pool house within the outdoor living space was centered on the fact that on one side of the new pool house structure was a planned tennis court, while on the other side was an existing pool that was going to remain. To solve for this “two-front” problem, GTM designed the new pool house to have large glass sliding doors on both fronts, and placed all service rooms (i.e. laundry, mechanic, changing, bath, and sauna) on the sides of the structure. This allowed for a “see through” effect and two front aspects of the pool house. For added detail, each front was designed to relate to what areas they were fronting. For example, the pool side has a covered porch while the tennis side has an open steel and wood pergola. Sustainable features were incorporated throughout the project, including interior built-ins using sustainable wood products from maple trees, cabinet veneers, trim in sustainable poplar wood, and Smart Home controls throughout, allowing for precise control of conditioning and lighting.
GTM provided architectural, interior architecture, and interior design services – explore the architectural design.
