Washington, DC
GTM|Architects’ design for The Pacifica, a newly-constructed luxury condominium building in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC, respectfully complements the existing historic row homes across from it on N Street, which sit within the lines of the Dupont Historic District. The front façade of this five-story concrete and steel structure utilizes brick with a stone base and incorporates canted bay windows, aligning with those in nearby houses. Other design elements, such as a large decorative cornice at the roofline, make the building’s presence felt while still allowing it to blend seamlessly with the rest of the street.
Each of the building’s nine units boasts a large open-concept kitchen, living and dining room. GTM designed the interiors with the intention of emulating a single-family residence, reflected in the trim work, crown moldings, coffered ceilings and cased openings, which also convey a sense of space and room designation.
