Washington, DC
Since 2009, GTM Architects has been involved in a lengthy review process with federal and historical agencies to make changes within the existing Union Station, as the building is designated a National Historic Landmark, Nationally Registered Historic Place, and National Treasure. Union Station’s 386,000-square-foot Main Hall, located within Washington, DC’s transportation hub, is currently undergoing a number of studies to provide access from the Main Hall to the Lower-Level food court and future expanded retail. The Amtrak Train Concourse has also been upgraded with one of Washington, DC’s largest displays of LED lights featuring an 8-foot-tall backlit sign band with approximately 600 linear feet of LED lighting. The use of vibrant graphics with backlit LED technology provides greater visibility for the tenants while enhancing the shopping and travel experience for the train passengers.
