Washington, DC
GTM Architects served as the Designated Design Architect and Architect of Record for both Walgreens self-developed projects and third-party developed locations in the Mid-Atlantic region. Beginning with Walgreens' prototype fixture plans, GTM implemented the company's most current design standards while providing code review, construction documents, architectural notes and details, and coordination with engineering consultants for each store.
The Walgreens Chinatown flagship, the company's first flagship store on the East Coast, is a 23,200-square-foot tenant fit-out within a historic building directly across from the Gallery Place–Chinatown Metro Station in Washington, DC. Spanning three levels, the store expands upon the traditional Walgreens model by incorporating a nail salon, smoothie bar, makeup boutique, and gourmet grocery as well as the standard pharmacy and MinuteClinic. GTM also coordinated with the Chinatown Steering Committee and the Historic Preservation Office to secure approvals for the building's exterior signage.
