Kent Island, MD
Set against the tranquil backdrop of Cox Creek on Kent Island, this 5,259-square-foot modern farmhouse blends traditional forms with a contemporary color palette. The composition of the house reads as three distinct volumes unified by the bold exterior color palette, with deep-toned horizontal lap siding and vertical farmhouse-style cladding in dark greys, punctuated by black-framed windows and trim. Indoor-outdoor connections are celebrated through expansive sliding glass doors leading to outdoor porches on both levels as well as a 1st floor screened porch, all orientated to look out over the water. The landscape design extends the living space outward, with an outdoor kitchen and stone patio covered by a modern wood and steel pavilion positioned opposite the pool to frame the view to the Creek. Through its interplay of form, texture, and light, the home reinterprets the farmhouse architype for a modern, waterfront lifestyle – merging rural tradition with contemporary elegance.
