For the Conference Center at 11 Dupont Circle, GTM Architects’ design comprised a catering lounge, conference rooms, and new lobby area. Building ownership wanted a 2nd floor elevator lobby design that would complement the building’s recently renovated main lobby. To achieve this, the design concept utilized similar light oak wood tones and the teal-colored architectural artwork in the atrium terrace as inspiration, bringing in pops of bright color throughout. The style is modern and fun to honor the heart of the Dupont Circle neighborhood, with a bright multi-colored wallcovering in the lounge anchoring the space and tying in the multi-colored furniture pieces.
The catering area has a panel-ready refrigerator, built-in microwave, sink, and coffee and water dispenser. The built-in millwork in this space has light oak wood cabinetry with a white tone-on-tone, geometric backsplash of full height, creating a timeless design that pairs well with the vibrancy of the adjacent lounge. An operable felt screen allows the catering and lounge areas to be divided visually when needed for separate events. The large training room can seat up to 60 and contains an operable partition that splits the room into 2 large conference rooms, each capable of seating 22 or more. A knife edge ceiling bulkhead with cove-lighting and a wood-look wallcovering accentuates the operable partition down the center of the room.
