When engaging GTM, our clients wanted to create a modern and stylish new home for their post-middle-age years. To achieve this unique goal, we placed a strong emphasis on the design of the ground floor Owner’s Suite. Its strategic location on the primary living level makes it convenient, accessible, and offers direct access to the large outdoor terrace, making it ideal for aging in place.
The home’s exterior is clad in a blend of natural stone, stucco, glass, and wood, featuring a low-pitched metal hip roof with deep mahogany accented eaves to provide shade for the considerable expanses of glass. In addition to the Owner’s Suite on the main level, the home boasts an open concept Kitchen, Dining, and Family Room that share space and offer views to the rear yard. The area further extends to a screened porch and patio with fireplace, offering easy access to the outdoors and connection to the lush and sophisticated landscape.
Custom-designed cabinetry and built-in millwork with grain-matched wood add warmth and a material connection to the exterior. A double-story fireplace designed within a wall of glass creates a dramatic centerpiece for the main living area, as the stone and natural light create a beautiful texture and anchor the large space with the inviting presence of the exterior landscaping and hearth.
