Renovation of 1950s School Building into Modern Classrooms

GTM Architects was engaged to renovate 8,250 sf of Christ Episcopal School’s classroom building and portions of the attached 1860 Church building. For the School renovation, GTM demolished two floors of small, disorganized rooms of the existing classroom building and created spacious, light-filled, modern classrooms. The classrooms on each floor were organized around a widened corridor with built-in benches to function as both a social gathering location for the students and provide break-out teaching nooks for each classroom. Additional faculty offices, enlarged staff lounge and updates to all finishes round out the school design. In addition to the cosmetic and functional upgrades of the school, GTM made improvements to bring both the Classroom and Church buildings up to ADA compliance.
