Continuing its relationship with the full-service pet care company, District Dogs, GTM Architects was again engaged by to create their newest location in the up-and-coming Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC on the ground floor of a new apartment building. The Shaw site welcomes clients, of both the two and four-legged variety, into a bright and fun check-in area designed with durable materials in their signature bright yellow with warm wood tones. Efficient and functional, the entry space sets the tone for the rest of the facility, easily seen through glass walls.
District Dogs Shaw features expanded play space with four playrooms. Utilizing a similar design concept as District Dogs Navy Yard, GTM was able to provide an even bolder, dog-friendly design and includes a roll-up garage door for flexible division. Careful lighting and color play well alongside easily cleaned materials, providing the canine clients a new recreation and boarding space all can love.
Another fun feature of the facility is the Dog Spa. The custom triangular wall tiles accented in branded yellow and black in the bathing area serve the dual purpose of being aesthetically exciting while still easily cleaned. The clever wall covering, featuring multiple silhouetted dog species, provides a sophisticated but amusing take on a traditional material. Playful wall graphics and pet-friendly accessories throughout complete the design to make the newest District Dog location a testament to their commitment to excellence for their clients and staff.
